Over the years in my capacity as a client advocate AZ Justice Center has been a main point of service for the community. In my current role with Mercy Center of AZ, AZ Justice Center is a community partner we know we can count on to help our clients. They are a source of help for those we serve through all their program opportunities, and also a source of referrals for those they serve who are in need of IOP classes, counseling, vocational development with housing.
AZ Justice Center provides each person who enters through their doors a sense of help and hope.

I've been associated with the Arizona Justice Center (AZJC) for 20 years, primarily through our Christian Legal Aid AZ Founder- Steve Keist. I've volunteered at various churches and non-profits over those 20+ years, including the AZ Justice Center with Atty. Joe Charles, his wife/Administrator, Rhonda, and nephew Robin Charles who primarily handles their Housing Assistance ministry, which has been Very Effective and Instrumental in helping SO many of the voiceless and vulnerable in the Phoenix/Valley.
Below are some more specific examples where I've seen their Justice Center ministry help others. It's been a great partnership that has been able to help hundreds (or even thousands) over their years of Ministry/Service:
Assisting Many with a temporary hotel room (before a Shelter is available), food, clothing/shoes/socks and other important physical resources not always readily available from other non-profits, ministries, etc.
Robin is always helping many of our "clients" with Housing Assistance, beyond our Ministry focus of Christian Legal Aid.
AZJC has allowed one of their staff/Volunteers to assist our Ministry location at Glendale Salvation Army with Legal/Language Interpreting for Spanish-Speaking "clients".
CAN (Community Action Network) coordinated by AZJC has brought together 40-50 organizations monthly to educate, inform AND Unify each other regarding the important physical (..and spiritual) resources for the voiceless and vulnerable in the Glendale/Valley area.
Staff Volunteer (Glenn) is actually homeless and is encouraged to receive "clients" as they come to AZJC and allowed to do Evangelism and physical resources Outreaches to the many homeless in/around Glendale.
Mail Services, since obviously those that are homeless don't have a physical address for their paper mail, including checks, disability, important documents, etc. to be received. A P.O. Box is often cost-prohibitive for many. This important physical service provides AZJC with a Great Opportunity to minister also to the spiritual, emotional or mental health needs of the HOME-less community.
Project ID hosted by AZJC provides FREE documents (including birth certificates, DL's, etc.) from all states, as so many in the homeless community have lost them or they've been taken/stolen from them, which impedes greatly their opportunity for Identity needed for living and jobs/careers to pursue to help get them resources and opportunities to get off the streets.
Both Rhonda & Joe Charles patiently helped a 80+ y/o Missionary lady who claims her husband was being "abused" by Mayo Clinic over the course of several months. She also had various issues with her home that needed to be resolved. Rhonda especially helped the lady with her home/care for several months and the Legal Team of AZJC with their legal issues over the same period. Thank you to BOTH Joe and Rhonda for helping and loving their neighbor, as commanded, of ALL Christians.
Joe listened patiently to a sad story of Whitney losing her kids, who were taken to Florida by her Ex, when she had a "self-harm" issue, which included police and DCS. Immediately after hearing the details, Joe called Whitney to get her "side" of the matter and then called Her Mom, who was the cause of her daughter (Whitney) losing her kids. Joe gathered their facts and within a day had a draft of an Emergency Order/Petition to get her kids back. Whitney was able, with his help, to file that Motion herself, and the Court ruled in her favor, and she was able to finally get her kids back after several months of investigating, fact-gathering from all AZ departments involved, which included coordinating 6 Attorneys' help in 3 states. Praise The Lord for Joe's (& Rhonda's administration of same) determined, dogged, hands-on approach to reunite a single, divorced mother of 2 to get her children back under arduous, mutli-state circumstances. Whitney is VERY thankful to Joe (& Rhonda), as well as the other attorneys involved who spend countless hours, pro bono, for her, as she was unemployed and "disabled" after this traumatic event back in Sept. of 2024.
Thanks, Rhonda, for the opportunity to share the valuable resources, insights and partnership we've been blessed to share with the AZ Justice Center! May God continue to richly bless you and your Ministry (with Joe) for His continued work to show the vulnerable and voiceless The Love and Hope they have through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

I wanted to express my gratitude for last month’s CAN meeting—it was a great success! I had the opportunity to present and request support for my Homeless Resource Event. Thanks to the community and providers who attended, I received valuable assistance in making my Community Resource Fair a reality.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to you (Rhonda) and Joe for your ongoing support in bringing leaders together through these meetings. Your efforts create a space where collaboration thrives, and the community benefits greatly from these connections.
Your continued support is a blessing, and I look forward to attending the next meeting!
